Great great grandfather Pierre Aloysius Josephs was a builder who continued working into his late nineties. Pierre lived to the age of 106 years. Great grandfather Pierre Aloysius Jr also became a builder and then in the late 1860's a master violin, viola, cello, and bow maker. Grandfather James Josephs was also a violin maker.
Uncle Arnold Josephs started the cabinet business on East 14th Street in Oakland, CA in 1922. He took jobs from all over the Bay area, eventually expanding his operation enough to employ many skilled people in his shop. The business continued to do well through the 1960's when he retired. Arnold led a long, happy life and lived to the ripe age of 99. We think all this woodwork must be good for the body and soul.
